Dear Prospect Park Borough,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Open Public Records Act reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Prospect Park Borough's handling of my OPRA request 'Names, salaries and jobdescriptions of Municipal employees from 2016 to 2018'.
The original request was made on line at opramachine.com on 5/4/2018. A form was also presented to the Borough on 5/5/2018. The form listed Ms. Danielle Ireland as the person in charge of the OPRA requests. Later on, she said that Yancy Warzimas was in charge. When I contacted Yancy Warzimas, she stated that the request was "too detailed" and that extra time was needed to collect all data. Furthermore, Ms. Yarzimas unilaterally postponed the deadline from May 15, 2018, to June 15, 2018. She argued that the town lawyer needed to authorize the response, not to violate other laws and statutes, and that process necessitated a whole month.
We are on June 15, 2018 now. I e-mailed Yancy Warcimas on June 11 (Monday) to reconfirm that I would be receiving my month old OPRA request today. To this date, she has NOT responded to my email.
Yesterday, 6/14/2018, I talked to Danielle Ireland, who said that "she would get in touch with Yancy Warzimas and find out about the status of the OPRA request".
Certainly, the Borough of Prospect Park is not taking public records and open government very seriously. Having three employees who potentially can help to deliver my request in a timely manner, I don't see how can they take such an inordinate length of time. There is a Borough Clerk, a Borough Administrator, and an Assistant to the Borough Administrator. Three people should find the way to comply with the Open Public Records Act.
A full history of my OPRA request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://opramachine.com/request/names_sa...
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Maria Emma Anderson
