Dear Mr. Tarbous,

 

Your OPRA request for Union County municipalities with non-partisan muni
elections / run-off muni elections and run-off elections for school board
was received by this office on February 1, 2021. Your request is in
progress and the statutory deadline is February 10, 2021.

 

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(i)(2), with the State of Emergency in effect
due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the County will make reasonable efforts to
respond to OPRA requests within the statutory 7 business-day deadline or
as soon as possible thereafter, circumstances permitting. The County

Dear Mr. Tarbous,

 

This email constitutes a formal and complete response to your February 1,
2021, OPRA request for Union County municipalities with non-partisan
municipal elections / run-off municipal elections and run-off elections
for school board.

 

The County Clerk’s office has advised of the following, in response to the
items listed in your request.

 

Municipal elections:

1) employ non-partisan elections: please be advised that the Township of
Hillside is the only municipality in Union County that holds a
non-partisan Municipal Election. This year it will be held at the 2021
November General Election.

2) require run-off elections (in the event of no candidate receiving a
majority of votes): Yes, a run-off election may be required.

 

School Board elections:

3) require run-off elections (in the event of no candidate receiving a
majority of votes): please be advised that School Board elections do not
require a run-off election.
