Matawan Police Records request
Dear Matawan Borough,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested: Recently the police department made a Facebook post in regards to their K9 completing training and celebrating the dogs first year on the force. They mentioned in the post that the K9 has helped in the seizure of over $6,000. Please give me details of the arrests that produced this money and also what the Department/town did with this money?

Borough of Matawan Police Chief Thomas Falco states as this was a result of a request for assistance by another Monmouth County Law Enforcement agency, the details of the arrest are not filed with the Borough of Matawan Police Department ("MPD"). Also, as this is an ongoing investigation it is not subject to OPRA under NJSA 47:1A-1.1. Also, funds which the MPD may receive a percentage of as a result of the assistance provided is pending forfeiture proceedings in Superior Court, and no forfeiture from this case has been received as of this date.
Therefore, no documents responsive to your request are in the possession of the Borough of Matawan.
