Dear KB McKay.
Please be advised that I am the attorney for the Borough of Paramus, and,
accordingly I am in receipt of your OPRA  and Common Law Right of Access
request.
Please be further advised that your request is invalid as being overbroad
and  failing to state “identifiable” documents.  As the New Jersey
Appellate Division stated in the case of MAG Entertainment, LLC v. Div. of
Alcoholic Beverage Control 375 N.J. Super. 534, “OPRA  does not require
records custodians to conduct research among its records for a requestor
and correlate date for various government records in the custodian’s
possession.” (citing from Reda v. Tp. of West Milford, GRC Complaint No.
2002-58.   In that case, a requestor sought information regarding a
municipalities liability settlements but did not request any specific
records. The Government Records Council (GRC) objected to the request
stating that OPRA only allows requests for records, not requests for
information.
