Dear Washington Township (Bergen),
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

I would like any CAD logs, dispatch recordings, police journal entry records, vehicle reports, incident reports, operations reports, crash reports, investigation reports, records of warnings, copies written warnings, documentation of verbal warnings, tickets issued, citations issued, summonses issued, charge sheets, arrest reports, disposition of charges, disposition of summonses/citations referencing incidents in the month of January 2019.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Whenever a records custodian asserts that fulfilling an OPRA records
request requires an “extraordinary” expenditure of time and effort, a
special service charge may be warranted pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5.c. In
this regard, OPRA provides: “Whenever the nature, format, manner of
collation, or volume of a government record embodied in the form of
printed matter to be inspected, examined, or copied pursuant to this
section is such that the record cannot be reproduced by ordinary document
copying equipment in ordinary business size or involves an extraordinary
expenditure of time and effort to accommodate the request, the public
agency may charge, in addition to the actual cost of duplicating the
record, a special service charge that shall be reasonable and shall be
based upon the actual direct cost of providing the copy or copies …”

we have been informed by a different public authority that we can narrow this request by "limiting the timeframe from three months to a specific 2 to 3-day period" (~Governmental Relations Specialist NJ Department of Health).
Accordingly, we would like to revise our request as follows:
I would like any CAD logs, dispatch recordings, police journal entry records, vehicle reports, incident reports, operations reports, crash reports, investigation reports, records of warnings, copies written warnings, documentation of verbal warnings, tickets issued, citations issued, summonses issued, charge sheets, arrest reports, disposition of charges, disposition of summonses/citations referencing incidents occurring January 29, 2019, January 30, 2019, and January 31, 2019.
This adjustment reduces the scope to a period of less than 72 hours and as such, within reason.
We also note that applicable law permits requests to be made without revealing our identity. To preserve anonymity, we are not providing additional identifying details regarding any specific incident. Thank you.
