Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., I respectfully request access to records related to the triple homicide that occurred in Piscataway Township, New Jersey, on or about January 5, 2026, during the evening hours (approximately after 7:00 p.m.), reportedly in the vicinity of River Road and Mitchell Avenue.
This request includes, but is not limited to, the following records, whether maintained in electronic, audio, video, written, or any other format:

2. 911 call recordings, transcripts, and related metadata for any calls placed in connection with this incident.
3. Police radio transmissions and dispatch audio related to the incident.
4. Body-worn camera (BWC) footage from all responding officers, including initial response, scene security, and any subsequent actions.
5. Dash camera footage from any responding patrol vehicles.
6. Initial incident reports, offense reports, or preliminary summaries, including any cover sheets or first-response documentation.
7. Scene logs, including entry/exit logs, responding personnel lists, and unit assignments.
8. Arrest reports, charging documents, or complaints, if any have been generated.
9. Search warrants, warrant applications, affidavits, and returns, to the extent they have been filed or executed.
10. Evidence inventory logs or property records (excluding sensitive forensic details if exempt).
11. Inter-agency communications between Piscataway Police Department, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and/or the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office concerning this incident, excluding privileged legal strategy.
12. Press releases, public statements, or internal briefing memos prepared for public or media dissemination.
If any portion of the requested records is exempt from disclosure due to an ongoing investigation or another OPRA exemption, I specifically request that:
• All reasonably segregable, non-exempt portions be released, with exempt material redacted as required by law.
• The request not be denied in its entirety solely because some records or portions may be exempt.
• An itemized written explanation be provided for each record or portion withheld, identifying the specific statutory exemption(s) relied upon.
• Records be produced on a rolling basis as they become available.
This request seeks existing government records only and does not request the creation of new records.
If any responsive records are available electronically, I request delivery in electronic format via email or digital download. If fees are anticipated, please advise in advance.
Thank you for your time and attention. Please confirm receipt of this request.
Sincerely,
SR
Dear Piscataway Township Police Department,
This email is submitted solely as a supplemental clarification to my OPRA request previously submitted on Jan 5 and shall not be construed as a new, amended, or refiled request. The scope and substance of the original request remain unchanged, and the statutory response timeframe continues to run from the original submission date.
This request was properly submitted pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., and N.J.S.A. 47:1A-6(f), which expressly provides that a request submitted by email containing the required information constitutes a valid OPRA request and that a requestor is not required to use a specific form or platform.
Additionally, this request is asserted under the common law right of access, which independently requires agencies to balance the public interest in disclosure against any asserted need for confidentiality.
For clarification purposes only, I affirm the following:
• I have not been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States, as referenced in N.J.S.A. 47:1A-2.2.
• I will not use any records produced in response to this request for a commercial purpose, consistent with N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1.
• I am not seeking records in connection with any legal proceeding.
This clarification is provided voluntarily to assist in processing and does not waive any rights under OPRA or the common law, nor does it concede that such affirmations are prerequisites to a valid records request.
Please confirm receipt of this clarification and continue processing the original request accordingly. If any portion of the requested records is withheld, please identify the specific statutory exemption relied upon, as required by N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(g).
Thank you for your attention.
Yours faithfully,
Sr
Dear Piscataway Township Police Department,
For clarification only, and not to narrow or modify my request, the incident occurred after approximately 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026, on River Road in Piscataway Township; my prior reference to “after 7:00 p.m.” was approximate.
Yours faithfully,
Sr
Good afternoon,
This OPRA Request is hereby denied as there is an ongoing New Jersey State
Attorney General investigation regarding the incident and disclosure of
such records would be inimical to the public interest because such
disclosure would jeopardize the state agency’s ability to conduct the
investigation. See Henderson v. N.J. Dep’t of Law and Pub. Safety, Div. of
Alcoholic Beverage Control, GRC Complaint No. 2010-139 (May 2011).
N.J.S.A. 47:1A-3(a); N.J.S.A. 47:1A-6. See also Norcia v. Borough of North
Arlington (Bergen), GRC Complaint No. 2011-133 (June 2012).
The State of New Jersey recommends any further OPRA requests regarding
this matter be directed and filed with them at the following link:
