Dear New Jersey Department of Education,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

1) List of the names of all members appointed by the Commissioner of Education to the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Improvement Working Group established in the Department of Education pursuant to PL 2025, c.107 (“IEP Working Group”), including identification of which member(s) of the IEP Working Group:
o represent the northern, central, and southern regions of the State;
o are employed as full-time teachers in a public school in the State who teach students with IEPs;
o are employed as a principal in a public school in the State;
o are employed as a director of special education in the State;
o are members of a school board of two different school districts in the State;
o are employed as chief school administrators in a public school in the State;
o are parents of students receiving special education services at the prekindergarten level in a public school in the State;
o are parents of students receiving special education services at the elementary school level in a public school in the State;
o are parents of students receiving special education services at the middle school level in a public school in the State;
o are parents of students receiving special education services at the high school level in a public school in the State;
o have expertise working with, or representing, students with disabilities;
o have expertise working with, or representing, students with disabilities, and who have direct experience working with Black, Latino, and immigrant students with disabilities;
o have expertise working with, or representing, students with disabilities, and who have direct experience providing transition services;
o have expertise working with, or representing, students with disabilities and who are at least 21 years of age and have received special education and related services pursuant to an IEP;
o are part of a child study team in a public school in the State;
o are employed as a school psychologist;
o are employed as a school social worker;
o are employed as a learning disabilities teaching consultant;
o are employed as a speech-language specialist.
If no centralized list of IEP Working Group members exists, then any document or documents showing who was appointed as IEP Working Group members in each of the above categories.

2) Date of appointment of each of the above members to the IEP Working Group.

3) Report of each of the above appointments submitted by the Commissioner to the State Board of Education pursuant to N.J.A.C 6A:2-2.2.

If the above records exist in spreadsheet, CSV, or database format, please provide them in that format. If redaction is necessary, we request that all non-exempt material be released in accordance with OPRA’s severability requirement.
