Dear Jersey City OPRA Center,
I was asked to clarify my request. I am investigating a claim for a stolen truck. The vehicle was described as a 2022 White Freightliner Cascadia displaying an Indiana Registration of 3211828. Cameras were located at 43 Edward Hart Drive. The officer went to check footage, but the location was closed at the time. Did the officer go back to check for video footage and is there a video of this incident that you can send to me for review. This request is related to Case # 24-233704.

Good afternoon, Ms. Schavone. I'm in receipt of your message highlighted
above. So, I'm assuming you're looking for CCTV footage, not BWC
footage. That's what my request for clarification meant. However, there
are separate divisions within the Police Dept., and CCTV has no access to
the Report information. They cannot locate footage by using all the
information you provided. What they actually need is only the closest
intersection(s) where the incident happened (that's where cameras would
be), the date and the approximate time (time frame).
Please confirm this is what you are requesting and provide me with that
information, so I can circulate your request to CCTV. Please be advised
that CCTV footage has a 90-day retention period only. Hopefully, they
still have that.

Good afternoon, Ms. Schavone. I am in receipt today of your
'clarification message' highlighted above, asking for CCTV footage from
two (2) intersections for basically 30 days of footage.
Please be advised that:
1) CCTV footage has a retention period of 90 days only. So, any footage
from Nov. 2024 up to Dec. 3, 2024, is already past the retention period;
and
2) the Div. of CCTV will never produce any request for 24-hours of footage
as it would be considered "overly broad and extremely disruptive", let
alone a whole 30 days of footage.
I will nevertheless have your request circulated to the Division of CCTV.
