Hoboken Police incident and call for service records, April 11, 2026, through August 11, 2026
Dear Hoboken City,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A 5(f), provided that this request contains the information required on the adopted OPRA request form.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
The proceeding is an existing family matter in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Family Part, Hudson County, involving Steven Sherman and Kelly Matthews and concerning custody, parenting time, and child support.
Docket Number: FD-09-000355-23
There is an existing Family Court order concerning child support and parenting time.
To the best of my knowledge, the Hoboken Police Department records requested below are not presently the subject of any pending discovery request or court order requiring their production.
Records requested:
For the period April 11, 2026 through August 11, 2026, I request copies of existing records maintained by the Hoboken Police Department concerning police incidents, calls for service, responses, or other police contacts involving either or both of the following individuals:
Kelly Matthews
DOB: 01/20/1982
Matthew Bailin
DOB: 04/14/1985
Specifically, I request the following existing records for any responsive incident involving either individual:
1. CAD records, CAD event reports, and CAD call records.
2. Calls for service records.
3. Police dispatch and event records.
4. Incident reports and offense reports.
5. Police reports documenting complaints, disturbances, investigations, welfare checks, disputes, or other police responses involving individual.
6. Arrest reports and arrest records.
7. Criminal complaints, complaint summonses, and summons records maintained by the Hoboken Police Department.
8. Police blotter entries and police log entries.
9. Existing records reflecting the incident number, event number, case number, date, time, location, nature or classification of the incident or call, responding officers, arrests made, and charges filed.
This request includes incidents involving Kelly Matthews individually, incidents involving Matthew Bailin individually, and incidents in which Kelly Matthews and Matthew Bailin were both involved.
I understand that certain records or portions of records may be confidential or exempt from public disclosure. I am not requesting disclosure of information that is prohibited from disclosure by law.
If a responsive record contains confidential or exempt information, please redact only the information that is legally exempt and provide all reasonably segregable and nonexempt portions of the record.
If an underlying incident report, offense report, or other responsive report cannot legally be disclosed, please provide any separately maintained nonconfidential CAD record, call for service record, dispatch record, police log entry, arrest record, complaint or summons record, incident number, event number, date, time, location, general incident classification, arrest information, or charge information that may lawfully be disclosed.
For any responsive record withheld in whole or in part, please identify the record being withheld and state the specific statutory, regulatory, court rule, or other legal authority relied upon for the denial or redaction.
My preferred delivery method for responses to this request is by email as attachments. Please confirm that you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of the requested records, please forward my request to the appropriate custodian or advise me of the appropriate custodian.
Yours faithfully,
Steven Sherman
