The elimination of sidewalk will not affect the grant. The grant will remain in the amount of $350,000.00. Please be aware Local Aid only participates in eligible construction costs up to the grant amount. So the elimination of sidewalk will ultimately decrease the  cost of construction. Thus, decreasing the amount we will participate in but still up to the $350,000 allotment.

After reviewing the estimate attached if the Borough were to remove sidewalk from the contract, the eligible construction amount would still exceed the grant amount. So the Borough would be reimburse the full $350,000.00.

Lastly, a Scope Modification form may be required  if the Borough decides to proceed with the elimination of  sidewalk. This form is located on our website and is used to detail changes in scope and/or funding to approved projects. It should be submitted along with the plans and estimate for our review.

Tremaine, I am in need of some clarification regarding the above referenced project, based on some new circumstances, which I am in the processing of reviewing, as follows:

• We have had a change in Governing Body personnel since the resolution of support was originally approved.

• There is presently a very vocal and active group of neighborhood residents who don’t  want sidewalks to be included in this project, who attended last night’s meeting to plead their case to the current Governing Body. They are putting a good deal of pressure on the current Governing Body and they have also reached out to local state legislators for assistance. 

Before I meet with this group and/or make any recommendations to the Governing Body, I need to know if the elimination of sidewalks in this project will jeopardize any, or all, of the original $350,000.00 grant.  I would greatly appreciate your review and assistance and I realize the award of the associated bid is time sensitive.  Please let me know if you need any additional information, or feel free to give me a call.  Thank you, Theresa
