Good Afternoon All,
At last night’s RAB meeting Councilperson Dill informed us the American Flag as well as the POW flag were removed from the flagpole at Upper Faber because the flag has not been lit at night for decades. I respectfully request the council add a light
there rather than resort to permanently removing the flag.
Of note, the flag in front of Borough Hall is not properly illuminated at night. The flag at Wilde Park has some ambient lighting from the street light, however the flag there is also not properly lit.
To also note, the flag at the 9/11 Memorial at Veterans Park is lit, thankfully. For reference, that light was installed by Gulmy Construction when the Memorial was erected.
I don’t know the status of the other Borough flags, but probably a good thing to review at this time. I recall proper flag lighting was something Councilperson Gilbreth was passionate about during the work-session discussions we had re: GRDP back in February
2020.
As for the flags at the Dog Park, we actually replaced the initial light the non-profit had initially installed in order to have a more powerful one that shines brightly at night and properly illuminates the flag, as it should.
Since we are on the topic of flags, I’m curious as to when and why the American flag was removed from Borough vehicles. Please LMK.
Thank you,
Eileen Hillock
