For Your Information Documents "FYI"
Dear Ridgewood Public School District,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested: All For Your Information "FYI" documents from December 2020 through March 2023 between the Superintendent of Schools and the School Business Administrator that were transmitted to the Ridgewood Board of Education during these specified dates.
Yours faithfully,
The Truth About The Ridgewood Board of Education
Dear Sir or Madam,
This correspondence is being sent in response to the Open Public Records
Act (“OPRA”) request you submitted to Ridgewood Public Schools. As the
official Records Custodian, I received this request on May 1, 2023. As
such, the seven (7) business day deadline to respond to your request is
May 10, 2023. I will be sending a response to your request within this
deadline.
If your request for access to a government record has been denied or
unfilled within the seven business days required by law, you have a right
to challenge the Board’s decision to deny access. At your option, you may
either institute a proceeding in the Superior Court of New Jersey or file
a complaint with the GRC by completing the Denial of Access Complaint
Form. You may contact the GRC by toll-free telephone at (866)-850-0511, by
mail at P.O. Box 819, Trenton, New Jersey, 08625, by e-mail at
[1][email address], or at their website at [2]www.state.nj.us/grc. The
Council can also answer other questions about the law. All questions
regarding complaints filed in Superior Court should be directed to the
Court Clerk in your County.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Davenport

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing regarding your request pursuant to the Open Public Records
Act (“OPRA”) received on May 2, 2023. The seven business day deadline to
respond to your request is May 10, 2023. On May 8, 2023, the district
advised that it needed additional time to respond with a new date of May
22, 2023, provided. As such, the District is timely responding to your
OPRA request in accordance with New Jersey law.
Your request is set forth below:
All For Your Information "FYI" documents from December 2020 through March
2023 between the Superintendent of Schools and the School Business
Administrator that were transmitted to the Ridgewood Board of Education
during these specified dates.
A search for records pertaining to your request has generated a total of
3,266 pages of records for review. A review of all records generated is
required to determine which records may be responsive and, further, each
record that is deemed responsive will have to be reviewed for possible
redaction. OPRA allows public agencies to impose a special service charge
whenever the nature, format, manner of collation, or volume of a
government record is such that fulfilling the request requires an
extraordinary expenditure of time and effort. See N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(c).
As stated above, there are a total of 3,266 records generated using your
search terms. The Board estimates that it will take a qualified staff
member approximately 32.5 hours at the rate of $43.25 per hour to fulfill
your request, for a total charge of $1,405.
Please advise in writing whether you still wish to receive the records
responsive to your request. If we do not receive a response from you by
Tuesday, May 23, 2023, your OPRA request will be closed.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Very truly yours,
Kathryn Davenport
Interim Business Administrator/Board Secretary
