Incident Details:
Suspect Name: Tara Fritz
City and State: Atlantic City, New Jersey

Description: A female driver was arrested for driving under the influence following a motor vehicle collision while making a left-hand turn. Officers reported detecting alcohol on her breath and conducted field sobriety tests, including the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand tests. The driver admitted to consuming a margarita earlier in the evening. Her daughter was present in the vehicle at the time of the crash. After failing sobriety tests, she was taken into custody and issued summonses for DUI-related offenses. The incident was processed through municipal court, and the suspect was advised she would likely appear for her hearing via Zoom.

The records provided should be unredacted. If any redactions are made, you are required to provide a specific legal justification for each redaction under applicable open records laws. Simply citing general privacy concerns is not sufficient. All video footage, including BWC, dashcam, and interrogation recordings, should also be unredacted unless legally justified.

Please be advised that your request for Body Worn Camera footage has been
denied per the following:
If the police indicate that the footage has not been “flagged” and the
requestor is not one of the listed parties in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.5(k).
“Your request for Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage must be denied. The
current retention period for BWC footage is ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY (180) days.
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.5(J)(1), BWC footage not subject to the
three (3) year retention period or the conditional retention requirements
set forth in section (j) of that statute, and is exempt from disclosure
under OPRA. Note that N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.5 is applicable to OPRA under
N.J.S.A. 47:1A-9(a). As there is no evidence that the responsive footage
should be subject to the three (3) year retention period, and the
requestor has not shown that they are one of the parties outlined in
N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.5(k) capable of reviewing the responsive footage, your
request is denied. See Hector Geronimo vs. N.J. State Police, GRC
Complaint No. 2023-264.”
