Just to keep you in the loop with the issues that have recently surfaced regarding a reported homeless shelter at the Calvary Episcopal church annex.

 

A permit was recently issued for minor renovation work to the structure that was once a single family dwelling.

 

I have advised the Church personnel that the structure is located in the single family zone and can be used only as a single family dwelling. 

The occupants of the dwelling can change from time to time. From my standpoint it's no different than a rental property changing tenants.

 

A recent press article I believe has created some disinformation regarding use of the structure as a multi family homeless shelter. I will continue to monitor the construction progress and issue the proper Certificate of Occupancy for a single family use.

 

Any violation of the CO will result in penalties in accordance with the State of NJ Uniform Construction Code and the Borough's Zoning Ordinance.
