Fiscal cannabis data request
Dear Clerk,
My name is Giovanna Romero Sarubbi. I am a doctoral student and public finance researcher at Rutgers University-Camden. I am researching the legalization of recreational cannabis and its impact on NJ municipal public finance, while collecting data on related revenue sources.
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

1. local cannabis transfer tax,
2. cannabis user tax,
3. social responsibility revenue, and
4. any additional sources of local revenue, such as cannabis application fees.

Ø 1 Local cannabis transfer tax. Township Transfer Tax Revenue
Collected: CY 2022 = $483,446 ; 2023 = $980,280 ; 2024 = $842,405 ; 2025
= pending
Ø 2. Cannabis user tax. Township does not have information on sales
tax, it is only between the business entity and State of NJ.
Ø 3. Social responsibility revenue. Township is not aware of any revenue
titled "social responsibility revenue" .
Ø 4. Any additional sources of local revenue, such as cannabis
application fees. Finance Department does not collect application fees,
may want to check with Planning or Buildings department.
