Ethical Standards Board Meeting Minutes
Please accept this as my request for government records under both OPRA and the common law right of access. Thank you very much for your commitment to transparent government.
BACKGROUND:
The Township's "Annual Meeting Notice" legal advertisement published in the January 26, 2023 Home News Tribune states that the Ethical Standards Board meetings are "held on an as needed basis." I understand that this is because there is generally no need for a meeting unless the Board receives a complaint. However, Township Code § 3-101(G)(2) requires the Ethical Standards Board to "annually elect a chairperson from among the membership." I don't see how such an election could take place unless it was at a properly called meeting. I searched through the public notices for the past year and didn't find any notice of any Ethical Standards Board meetings held from February 2022 through current date. Also, the Township's website doesn't contain any references to Ethical Standards Board meetings. So, I am wondering whether the East Brunswick Ethical Standards Board has been meeting once per year to annually elect a chairperson as required by Code § 3-101(G)(2).
