The request was partially successful.

Dear Westwood Borough,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

all email communications, written communications, crash reports, incident reports, investigation reports, internal affairs records, cad records, audio records, video recordings, citations, summonses issued, charge sheets, disposition of charges, and court records pertaining to (an) incident(s) in july 2024 during which an emergency vehicle was involved in a crash at washington and lafayette avenues.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Kimberly Haffler,

Thank you for answering the records request.

I noticed in reading through the records that a ticket or tickets were written.

In my original request, I asked for “….charge sheets, disposition of charges, and court records” in addition to tickets and reports themselves.

Can i still find out what happened with the ticket or tickets written? Or am i going to need to file a new request for that information?

Yours sincerely,

Willie Cardinales

Kimberly Haffler, Westwood Borough

As stated in my response to you those records need to come from the court directly, as I do not have access to the,
I did forward your request to them. It is also very possible that the summons may not have been through the entire court process at this time.
You can reach out to them directly for the status of that at [email address] or 201-666-8510.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Dear Kimberly Haffler,

oh ok sorry i just didnt see that part sorry for the trouble.

i guess i can wait until the court replies to ask this: but if it is the case i asked before the tickets were resolved (im a bit confused here as it says on the face of the ticket i read that the court date is august were in october now), am i going to have to come back at a later time to try again, or will the court notify me when the court process completes?

Yours sincerely,

Willie Cardinales

Kimberly Haffler, Westwood Borough

Not a problem.
Generally the court date on the summons is just a first appearance, and it is followed by another court date.
I would reach out directly to the court to ask those questions because I cannot answer to what they can or cannot do.
