Email Logs for At-Large Councilmembers
Dear Town of Morristown,
Please produce the following records in .pdf format:
1. Copies of email logs for Toshiba Foster from January 1, 2019 thru March 17, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
2. Copies of email logs for David Silva from January 1, 2019 thru March 17, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
3. Copies of email logs for Michael Elms from January 1, 2019 thru March 17, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
An email log can be very easily retrieved and should be pulled by a member of the (IT) department, whoever is in charge of the email server. The email log is a very simple, short document (It is usually in a spreadsheet type format) with meta data information, no need to redact meta data logs, no specific content is in meta data email logs to warrant redacting and should contain only the following:
a. date message was sent and/or received,
b. name of sender and/or recipient, copy (cc) and blind copy (bcc)
c. email address of sender and/or recipient,
d. the subject of each email.

Good afternoon -
I am in receipt of your OPRA request dated March 18, 2020 (our file no.
20-233). On March 20th, Governor Murphy signed A3849, which amends
N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5 by adding Subsection i(2), which states “during a period
declared pursuant to the laws of this State as a state of emergency,
public health emergency, or state of local disaster emergency, the
deadlines by which to respond to a request for, or grant or deny access
to, a government record under paragraph (1) of this subsection or
subsection e. of this section shall not apply, provided, however, that the
custodian of a government record shall make a reasonable effort, as the
circumstances permit, to respond to a request for access to a government
record within seven business days or as soon as possible thereafter.” As
the State of New Jersey is currently in a state of emergency, the offices
within Town Hall are operating with very limited personnel and we are
unable to fulfill your records request within seven (7) business days. As
such, I hope to provide any responsive documentation, subject to a
possible service fee, on or before May 1, 2020.
