Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

All electronic communications, including but not limited to emails, text messages, instant messages, voicemail, voice memos, and voice notes, sent or received by Westfield High School Principal Mary Asfendis, Westfield High School Assistant Principal Brett Curtis, Westfield High School Assistant Principal Mabel Huynh, or Westfield High School Assistant Principal Jacqueline Spring regarding the creation, possession, and/or dissemination of nude images of Westfield Public Schools students that were generated using artificial intelligence ("AI"). These communications include (but are not limited to) any communications referencing the words "nude," "nudify," "undress," "deepfake," "ClothesOff.io," "ClothesOff," "clothoff.io," or "Mani." This request is limited to the period of September 1, 2023 to December 20, 2024.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by e-mail as attachments. The records custodian must grant access to responsive records by my requested method of delivery. See O’Shea v. Twp. of Fredon (Sussex), GRC Complaint No. 2007-251 (April 2008).

Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Given the upcoming holidays, I proactively stipulate to an extension of the custodian's time to respond to January 15, 2025.

Dear Wendy Schreiner,

Thank you for the response. I have two questions:

(1) Two PDF attachments came through - the cover letter and the Vaughn index. But the body of your message indicates there may have been a third PDF; if that's the case, can you please re-send it?

(2) Per the Vaughn index, some records are being withheld due to containing student PII. I note they are being withheld in their entirety. I am requesting that Westfield Public Schools go back and redact student PII from records (as well as other PII as appropriate) and release those records in redacted form where possible, rather than withholding them in their entirety. This redaction request does not apply to records that are additionally being withheld on the basis of attorney/client privilege and/or attorney work-product privilege, or on the basis that they are inter-agency or intra-agency advisory, consultative or deliberative material under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1.
