Dear Edison School District,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
A digital list of all employees hired by the district. Please include their job title (non abbreviated) and union affiliation, department they work in, hire date, and salary. Please include full time staff, part time staff, substitutes, or temporarily/seasonally employed workers. This list can be broken up if one record does not exist containing all the requested information. But please include all the requested information in the OPRA request. Thank you.

Edison Board of Education received your OPRA request dated October 14,
2023 The District denies this request because it is overbroad. Please
redefine the specific documents you are seeking.
OPRA does not "authorize a party to make a blanket request for every
document" a public agency has on file. Gannett New Jersey Partners L.P. v.
County of Middlesex, 379 N.J. Super. 205, 213 (App. Div. 2005). Rather,
a party requesting access to a public record under OPRA must specifically
describe the document sought. OPRA operates to make identifiable
government records "readily accessible for inspection, copying, or
examination." N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1. As such, a proper request under OPRA
must identify with reasonable clarity those documents that are desired,
and a party cannot satisfy this requirement by simply requesting all of an
agency's documents. OPRA does not authorize unbridled searches of an
agency's property.
Here, your request seeks a broad range of potentially responsive
documents. This is frowned upon by OPRA and such requests have been held
unenforceable by the Courts. Again, please provide a new request seeking
a specific document so that the District can fulfill your request.

Dear Jonathan Toth,
I am seeking a document regarding disclosable employee data including the data requested on the original request. I understand that one document may not exist including all information being requested, so multiple documents that hold the information is also understandable.
