E-mails to/from/naming officer Ayad Taha from August 1st, 2023 to August 29,2023.
Dear Town of Westfield,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
I am requesting any and all e-mail communication discussing/naming officer Ayad Taha and regarding his conduct on August 6th,2023 from August 5th, 2023 to August 29,2023. I am requesting only those e-mails sent/received by 1)officer Ayad Taha, 2)captain Jason Carter, or 3)chief of police Christopher Battiloro.
(1) the content and/or subject of the e-mail = any and all e-mail communication regarding officer Ayad Taha and his conduct on August 6th,2023.
(2) the specific date or range of dates during which the e-mail was transmitted or the emails were transmitted = August 5, 2023 to August 29,2023.
(3) a valid e-mail request must identify the sender and/or the recipient thereof). = those e-mails sent/received by 1)officer Ayad Taha, 2)captain Jason Carter, or 3)chief of police Christopher Battiloro.

I am writing to request an internal review of Town of Westfield's handling of my OPRA request 'E-mails to/from/naming officer Ayad Taha from August 1st, 2023 to August 29,2023.'.
[ The request for records was originally made on 08/29/23. The request was marked as received by the town of Westfield on the same day. On 09/07/23 the town of Westfield indicated the request required extra time to fulfill and indicated the deadline to fulfill the request would be 09/20/23. Today is 09/20/23 and I have not received any records responsive to my request, nor have I recieved a response that identifies each record requested and the specific legal basis for a denial of access (including redactions) to each record.

Dear Madeline Colandro,
Can you please clarify what distinguishes/differentiates the correspondence on September 7th from the correspondence on September 18th? You are stating that I will receive a response by September 26th at the latest, referencing your September 18th communication. My assertion is that the September 7th communication uses identical language and therefore, would seem to suggest that by the same logic, I would be receiving a response by September 20th, at the latest. From my understanding there is only a 45 day window for remedy/appeal of an OPRA request.
I am unsure how the communication from September 7th and 18th could be interpreted differently ie. how one would one would reasonably conclude that the September 18th response indicates a future date for response "at the latest" but the September 7th response does not have the same "at the latest" date standard .
