E-Mail Correspondence
Dear Wallkill Valley Regional High School,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
1. Any and all e-mails between any administrators related to filling any guidance counselor positions between January 1, 2024 and the present. Search terms should include the terms "Guidance", "Guidance counselor", and any other terms ordinarily used by administrators to reference the guidance department.
2. Any and all e-mails between administrators referencing either Lauren Donahue or James Hamill between January 1, 2024 and the present.
3. Any and all e-mails or correspondence between David Carr and Taryn Geuther related to any emergency certification applications submitted on behalf of Wallkill Valley Regional High School from January 1, 2024 to the present.
4. Any and all e-mails or correspondence between David Carr and Taryn Geuther related to any emergency certification applications submitted on behalf of Wallkill Valley Regional High School from January 1, 2024 to the present.
5. Any and all e-mails or correspondence between any member of the Wallkill Valley Board of Education and David Carr OR between any member of the Wallkill Valley Board of Education and Taryn Geuther from January 1, 2024 to the present.

I'm not quite sure how to clarify #3. It appears clear that WVRHS completed an emergency certification related to an emergency Counseling Services certification for Mr. Hamill in May 2024 and this request therefore seeks any correspondence, in any form, whether e-mails, text messages, memorandums, or any other form of written communication or correspondence between Mr. Carr and Ms. Geuther related to that. However, it is not clear whether WVRHS has completed any additional emergency certification applications in calendar year 2024 and if there are any additional ones, this request should be construed to cover those as well. I hope this clarifies the request and if not, I am happy to address any specific point of confusion.
Could you please also confirm whether you are working on Item #4 and 5 as this response was silent as to those. Thank you in advance!

cost will be doubled to put them in the order you requested.

format requested.
Total cost for all is estimated at $4,344.06 + $199.83 = $4,543.89.
The amount must be paid before the information is released.
If the costs are less than what is estimated a refund will be issued. If
there are more, a bill will be issued.

These costs are exorbitant and under no stretch of the imagination, can be considered reasonable under OPRA and as a result, it appears this request is being effectively denied improperly which will require a denial of access complaint. In order for me to evaluate the propriety of these charges, please identify the specific section and subsection of OPRA under which you are assessing these charges.
