Dispatcher Salary
Dear West Milford Township,

This office received a request for information from you on October 3, 2024
to which we assigned the above referenced number used to log requests for
information under the Open Public Records Act (OPRA).
You wrote: “… yearly increases …”
This request as written is overly broad under OPRA. Language such as You
wrote: “… yearly increases …” is invalid under OPRA because it does not
properly identify which year you are requesting the increase and would
require interpretation and research by the custodian.
Your request does not identify the specific government records being
sought. “A custodian is obligated to search the files to find the
identifiable government records listed in the OPRA request. A custodian is
not required to research the files to figure out which records, if any,
might be responsive to a broad and unclear OPRA request.”
Nonetheless, your request as written was distributed to the Payroll
department. Attached please find the responsive records. Redactions have
been made according to N.J.S.A 47:1A-1.1 and Daniel’s Law.
