Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), I am requesting access to the following records:
Video and recordings of the custodial police interview of Liam McAtasney conducted at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (Freehold, NJ) between December 2, 2016 and 2019, in connection with the investigation and prosecution of the murder of Sarah Stern.
Please include:
The complete interview room footage, including any pre- and post-interview segments while McAtasney was present in the room.
The original/native files, with any available timecode, metadata, and file integrity information preserved.
Delivery in electronic format (via secure download link or email) if possible.
Fee Waiver Request:
I respectfully request a full waiver of all fees. This request is made for non-commercial, educational purposes. I operate a public channel focused on analyzing interrogation psychology and criminal-justice procedure. Release of these materials will contribute to public understanding of a high-profile New Jersey case and interrogation practices generally. I will not resell or profit from these records. If any fees remain unavoidable, please contact me before proceeding.

For the sake of expediency and for your and your organization’s benefit, I’d like to suggest we proceed under the purview of a general media request, rather than a formal Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request. The OPRA statute greatly restricts the type and scope of materials we are able to disclose publicly; however, we have a rather expansive package of digitized materials related to this case that has been repeatedly previously disclosed, which overlaps with what you are seeking.
