Your request is for the email log of the Chief of Police. Due to the
format of the email program utilized by the chief, the log will show the
recipient/sender, subject, date/time and the beginning sentence of the
email. Each entry in the log will require review and redaction. As the
request is for 13 months of emails, we have identified an excess of 11,000
entries to review and redact. The Chief of Police cannot delegate this
task to another employee due to the sensitivity of the information. His
hourly rate is $92.12 (minus fringe benefits), the task will take an
estimated 40 hours, the charge is $92.12 x 40.
In addition to the special service charge, please accept this email as a
follow up to your OPRA request relating to the email log of the Chief of
Police for the 13 month period, an extension of time to comply with your
request is necessary, due to an extraordinary volume of the request that
need to be reviewed to determine if there is sensitive material that needs
to be redacted or withheld in accordance with OPRA exemptions. The
revised date to comply with your request and provide the records
responsive to same will be on or before December 18th, 2017. Pursuant to
NJSA 47:1A-5i, OPRA allows custodians to seek extensions of time within
the statutorily mandated seven (7) business day compliance rule.
Kindly respond in writing with your acceptance or rejection of this
estimated charge. We will not begin to process this request until we
receive your written acceptance and a 50% deposit of the charge.
