Communications related to the new Hoboken High School
Dear Hoboken City,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
I am requesting all communications related to the proposed Hoboken High School which was voted upon in a referendum on Jan 25, 2022. I would like records between Mayor Ravi and the board of education in regards to the new constructions.
This request is not just for the official government emails but personal emails as well.
Yours faithfully,
Vitaly Burshten

Good Afternoon,
The City of Hoboken has received your OPRA and we forwarded your request to the following department:
Law Department / #22-637: This request is denied as it does not request a specific document or record.
*See below response from Law Department*
"Please let the requestor know that this request is denied as it does not request a specific document or record and does not contain a specific sender/recipient for the City to properly identify responsive documents (“the board of education” is not an individual). That being said, the City, in good faith, performed searches of the City’s servers during the date range January 1, 2021 to January 25, 2022, using the search terms “New High School” and “@hoboken.k12.nj.us”. The only potentially responsive document is attached hereto.
As to the request for personal emails, this is not a request for a specific document or record and the City does not have access to same in order to perform an open-ended search as the City can with its own servers. Therefore, this request is denied. You may submit a new request seeking a specific document and/or record which contains at least the minimum information required by law (a date range, sender/recipient, and subject). Finally, please note that the Board of Education is its own entity for purposes of OPRA, and therefore any requests specifically for the Board of Education members should be directed to them specifically."
Thank you,
mb
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Rotondi
