The Ridgewood Public Schools (“District”) records custodian received your
Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”) request on January 2, 2024. The seven
business day deadline to respond to your request is January 11, 2024. As
such, the District is timely responding to your OPRA request in accordance

With respect to items 5-10 of your request, the District is not the
custodian of these records.
With respect to item 11, the District is not in possession of any records
responsive to your request. With respect to items 1-4, please be advised
that OPRA allows the records custodian to seek extensions of time pursuant
to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-51. The District requires an additional two weeks (until
January 25, 2024) to compile, review, and produce the potentially
responsive records in accordance with New Jersey law. The District also
reserves the right to request an additional extension of time if
necessary. See Scheeler v. New Jersey Department of Educ., GRC Complaint
No. 2014-123 (2016).

As stated in our January 9, 2024 correspondence, with respect to items
5-10 of your request, the District is not the custodian of these records.
With respect to item 11, the District is not in possession of any records
responsive to your request.
With respect to items 1-4, the District conducted a search and identified
the attached 24 pages of responsive records. Please note that these
records have been redacted pursuant to the District’s “deliberative
process privilege.” See N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1 (exempting intra-agency
advisory, consultative, or deliberative material from the definition of a
“government record”). The redacted correspondence at issue is
pre-decisional and deliberative in nature. See Educ. Law Ctr. v. N.J.
Dep’t of Educ., 198 N.J. 274, 286 (2009); In the Matter of the Liquidation
of Integrity Ins. Co., 165 N.J. 75, 88 (2000).
Your OPRA request is now deemed answered and closed.
