I am writing in response to your Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request,
which was received by the Division of Codes and Standards in the New
Jersey Department of Community Affairs on May 26, 2020.
In your OPRA request, you asked for code violations at a property in East
Orange, New Jersey.
The Division of Codes and Standards in the Department of Community Affairs
is not the custodian of the records you are requesting. The Uniform
Construction Code is enforced by State-licensed, municipally employed code
enforcement officials. The City of East Orange has a municipal code
enforcement office. Therefore, code enforcement is provided, and related
documents are retained, by the municipal enforcing agency. The municipal
