We have reviewed the information presented by our Police Department. The information you have requested resulted in 7 pages, of which 5 pages will contain redactions (personal identifying information / phone numbers N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1.) This redaction will cost $.0.25 ($0.05 per redacted page). We will require full payment prior to preparing this request.

That is incorrect as to the fact that these records require to be manually redacted.

Because we need to print the document/photo copy to manually redact exempt portions we are able to charge for the same.

In Paff V. Twp of Teaneck as well as Paff V. Gloucester City both indicated that although the actual cost for providing records electronically is likely $0.00 because the custodian had to make copies to redact the requested minutes prior to providing same electronically, the custodian’s charge represented the actual cost to provide the records, pursuant to NJSA 47:1A-5(b). As stated below, although you are requesting these items emailed to you we will need to redact personal identifying information prior to release, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1 (social security numbers, home address, personal telephone #, etc.) Please advise if you would like for us to move forward with your redacted items listed above.

Furthermore, your request was submitted on April 25th 2019 which would make the deadline for your request May 4, 2019 and our office responded on May 3rd, 2019 the sixth day of your request. Therefore your request was completed on time. However we cannot release your request until payment is made.
