Building permits

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Alpine Borough should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Alpine Borough,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

All the best,
Pella Windows and Doors

Stephanie Wehmann, Alpine Borough

Good morning, Annette Caton/ Pella Windows and Doors,

Your OPRA Request below does not appear to specify records requested as that portion appears blank.

Please note "building permits" (as noted in only the subject line) is overly broad pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.
The request requires that the Custodian conduct research to ascertain what records, if any, would be responsive to your request. See, MAG Entm’t, LLC v. Division of ABC, 375 N.J. Super. 534 (App. Div. 2005) which provides that “[w]hile OPRA provides an alternative means of access to government documents… it is not intended as a research tool litigants may use to force government officials to identify and siphon useful information. Rather, OPRA simply operates to make identifiable government records ‘readily accessible for inspection, copying or examination.”

Please specify/clarify records sought along with a timeframe.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Wehmann, RMC, CMR

Dear Stephanie Wehmann,
Please provide a Permit Fee Log Detail Report or Permit Activity Report for JAN 2026. If the municipality cannot separate new construction, houses or additions, then I would like a copy of all residential new construction, renovations, additions, and alterations permitted. Please email me at [email address] if there are any questions. I respect your time and appreciate your help.

Yours sincerely,

Annette Caton
