Dear Hamilton (Mercer) Board of Education,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
1) From March 23, 2023 forward, any and all documents and government records relating to demands for book removals made by residents of your school district or organizations in which residents are members.
2) Any and all documents and government records evidencing actions by the Board or its members in response to demands for book removals.
3) Copies of all Board regulations relating promulgated in regard to Policy 9130.
4) Any and all documents and or government records relating to the implementation of Policy 9130 or its regulations with regard to book removal requests.
5) Copies of all documents or government records relating to the actions and/or decisions of any committee that the Superintendent has created in accordance with Policy 9130, paragraph 5 to review challenged material against the standards for the selection of resource materials established by Board policy.
6) The names of all people appointed to the committee noted in request 5.

A “government record” includes, but is not limited to, printed records, tape and video recordings, microfilm, electronically stored records (including e-mails, text messages and data sets stored in a database), text books, maps, photographs, etc.
