The Borough of Hightstown Records Custodian received your request for records pursuant to the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) via email on 5/18. Accordingly, the initial seven (7) business day deadline to respond to your request under OPRA is 5/30. This response is being provided on the 7TH business day after we received your request.
Your request requires additional time beyond the seven (7) business days to fulfill due to the availability of personnel to process your request. OPRA allows custodians to seek extensions of time pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5.i. Specifically, OPRA states that, “the requestor shall be advised by the custodian when the record can be made available. If the record is not made available by that time, access shall be deemed denied.” Further processing of your substantial request requires an additional 4 business days, which is until June 5, 2023.
