Attorney Fees Related to OPRA Review
Dear South Plainfield Police Department,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), I request copies of invoices, billing statements, vouchers, payment records, or other records reflecting fees or charges billed to or paid by the Borough of South Plainfield for legal services performed by the Borough Attorney or other legal counsel in connection with the review, processing, or response to OPRA requests.
This request is limited to records for the period January 1, 2025 through the date of this request.
This request seeks billing and expenditure records, including the date of service, amount billed, and general description of the service for which the Borough was charged.
For clarification, I am not requesting attorney-client privileged communications, legal advice, attorney work product, or the substance of any privileged communication. If a billing record contains information determined to be privileged or otherwise exempt, please redact only the exempt information and provide the remainder of the record, identifying the legal basis for any redaction.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
Fred Young
