Dear Anonymous,
We are in receipt of your request for records dated September 22, 2018, in
which you asked for “Paperwork for any sitting elected officials in Ocean
County who currently have assault investigations on their record at their
occupations.”
Please be advised that this request is overly vague. “Under OPRA,
agencies are required to disclose only ‘identifiable’ governmental records
not otherwise exempt. Wholesale requests for general information to be
analyzed, collated and compiled by the responding government entity are
not encompassed therein. In short, OPRA does not countenance open-ended
searches of an agency's files.” MAG Entm't, LLC v. Div. of Alcoholic
Beverage Control, 375 N.J. Super. 534, 549 (App. Div. 2005).
Here, your request for “paperwork” for “sitting elected officials” does
not identify any specific records to be retrieved nor does it specify a
subject for said records. As such, we cannot fulfill your request for
records.
Should you have any questions regarding this response, please contact me
using the information below.
Sincerely,
Shiraz Deen
