Dear Ocean County Prosecutor's Office,

Records requested:

On September 18, 2018, a 70-year old man, Robert May, was assaulted by Anthony Collins in Seaside Heights, NJ. On October 1, 2023, Robert May died as a result of injuries received during the assault. On June 10, 2024, Prosecutor Billhimer released a public statement when Anthony Collins pled Guilty to Manslaughter explaining "Certain proof problems in this case resulted in the State entering into a plea agreement with a recommended sentence that is below the normal sentencing range for manslaughter. The victim's family recognizes and understands those issues, and is in support of this resolution. I commend them for their compassionate and forgiving nature."

That is very nice of the family.

I am respectfully requesting you kindly research the records associated with this case and consult with Brad and identify the "proof problems" he thought was reason to agree that 3 years for killing a 70-year old riding his bicycle was appropriate.

This respectful request has been flagged, presumably by someone at the OCPO, for Administrative Review. I quoted Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer’s press release and would like you to identify the “proof problems” identified by Bradley. I do not believe that is unreasonable given the case relates to the death of a 70 year old man. Kindly review your records and identify the “proof problems.”
