Under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S. C. 12131) a public entity shall designate at least one employee to coordinate its efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under the Act. Please provide the name, office address, and telephone number of the employee that has been designated by your municipality under this requirement.

In addition, a public entity shall adopt and publish grievance procedures providing for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging any action that would be prohibited by the Act.

Regarding your inquiry the Borough of Rumson complies with the American with Disabilities Act as follows:

The Borough complies the American with Disabilities Act Title II Regulations, dated September 15, 2010.

The Building Department reviews construction permit applications for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III, dated September 15, 2010 as related to applicable projects completed on commercial facilities.

Municipally sponsored capital improvement projects utilize the Proposed Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way, dated July 26, 2011 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III, dated September 15, 2010 as applicable to the scope of the project. The Borough also requires property owners comply to the Proposed Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way, dated July 26, 2011 when installing improvements in the Borough right-of-way.
