We're waiting for AJ to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Edison Township,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:

All officer Bodycam footage 4/13/24 at NJ Expo Center. This includes Officer Paone #527 and the two other officers assisting him regarding incident# 24022253. I am requesting footage start time at 4:00pm to 6:00pm and to be unedited and include audio when required under NJ state law.

Yours faithfully,

AJ

Police OPRA,

Aj,

Your opra request to obtain the BWC of the other officers on scene at the Expo Center regarding your incident has been fulfilled. The total amount due is .80 cents. Be advised, due to citizen's expectation of privacy under NJSA 47:1A-1 "privacy interest," juveniles faces, other person's pedigree information (ie: address, D.L., phone number, medical), and police information were redacted from the footage. Under Common Law, all pedigree information pertaining to yourself was left un-redacted.

Just to be clear, if an officer on scene mutes his camera, that audio cannot be retrieved and will appear muted on the BWC. The only redactions pertaining to audio muting under Opra are as follows in the BWC provided today:

Hamer BWC:
1. ~13 min - redacted audio under police information/privacy exemption
2. ~15min30sec - redacted audio under medical/pedigree exemption

Gonzalez BWC:
1. no audio redactions required.
2. does contains a 30 second audio/muted buffer in the beginning similar to Officer Paone's bwc. This is not a redaction.

These are the only videos that Officers Hamer and Gonzalez have pertaining to your incident and within the time frame requested. Officer Paone however did activate his camera for another incident (approx. 2 minute video) between that time frame requested (4pm-6pm) which was provided on a separate disc. Only juvenile faces were redacted from that footage.

Please advise on how you would like to obtain your records. Note, additional charges may be added depending upon how you want to obtain your records. Hope you have a good weekend!

Best,

Edison Police Records

Dear Police OPRA,

Hey thank you very much for taking the time to review the footage and make note on where officers were muted and why. I can imagine this would be annoying to deal with but please know your response is/was appreciated, and respectful way in doing so is very defusing.

Would you mind posting the address and payee information for the cashiers check to be addressed to and I can mark this closed (I am located out of state and unable to pick up in person).

Any delay here, is only because I had forgotten to login to view initial request.

Yours sincerely,

AJ
