Dear Kean University,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access.
I certify under penalty of NJSA 2C:28-3 that I have not been convicted of an indictable offense.
Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

Dear Kean University,
This is a courtesy reminder my OPRA request was not acknowledged and overdue or is this officially a denial?
Yours faithfully,
M Roman

Re: Extension of 4/30/2018 OPRA Request
Dear M. Roman:
Kean University originally received your Open Public Records Act (OPRA)
request on April 30, 2018. As such, the initial seven (7) business day
deadline to respond to your request is Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Your request sought access to the following government records:
All Kean University OPRA Requests and responses from Jan 1, 2011 till June
30, 2011.
This request is overly broad and requires research. Please be advised that
OPRA does not require a public agency to conduct institutional research on
behalf of a requestor. As such, this is an invalid OPRA Request and is
denied.
Please also note that the retention schedule established by the State of
New Jersey for Four Year Colleges and Universities requires Open Public
Records Act requests to be maintained for a period of three (3) years.
If you have further questions regarding this request, feel free to contact
me or Custodian of Records, Laura Barkley-Haelig, at 908-737-3300.
Sincerely,
Meaghan Lenahan
On behalf of Laura Barkley-Haelig
Kean University Custodian of Records

Yes, You May “OPRA an OPRA Request”

The Court also re-affirmed its prior holdings and concluded that a request for all OPRA requests filed during a specific timeframe was valid and did not require “research.”
