Aggregated Residency Data for Newark Public School Teachers
Dear Newark Public Schools,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested: Aggregated data or records on the residency of Newark public school teachers. We are NOT asking for individual addresses or contact information. We are asking for data or records such as zip codes or towns of residence that is aggregated for all Newark public school teachers. We would like to determine how many Newark public school teachers live in Newark.

I am writing to request an internal review of Newark Public Schools's handling of my OPRA request 'Aggregated Residency Data for Newark Public School Teachers'.
My request was filed on January 11, 2022. It is a month later and I have received no response at all from Newark Public Schools.

Dear Luke, Pamela,
I can read the attached file with the zip codes where teachers reside, which was the second file attached in your original response, but I have never been able to read what was in the first file attached in that response. That was the one that was gibberish.
The contents of the second file (with the zip codes) is not responsive to my request. I am seeking information on how many NPS teachers reside in Newark. Simply giving me all the zip codes where teachers reside gives me no information on how many NPS teachers reside in Newark.

Please be advised, in addition to the PDF response to your OPRA request, I provided a responsive excel attachment with towns/zip codes of all teachers, which includes those that reside in the City of Newark, as an aggregated record is not maintained. The excel format allows the ability to sort and filter.
The excel document forwarded to you a second time, was the same excel document (you advised was gibberish), I initially forwarded to your attention in response to the OPRA request.

The Excel file only has the towns and zip codes. There is no data on the number of teachers who reside in these towns and zip codes. It is not responsive to my request.
Are you saying that NPS has no data on how many of its teachers reside outside of Newark? That NPS has no data on how many teachers reside in each of the various towns and zip you provided?
