Addresses with water-shut off
Dear Toms River MUA,
I am requesting a list of current addresses within the town/city that have had their water shut off within the past three months (September 1st - December 1st) of 2019.
My understanding is that the town/city is responsible for the turning on/off of the water supply to each address within it's legal boundaries. According to the NJ Utilities Code, the addresses of said properties are public information and can be provided upon notice via an Open Public Records Request (OPRA).

The Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority received your OPRA request on
December 2, 2019 and sought the following information:
“I am requesting a list of current addresses within the town/city
that have had their water shut off within the past three months (September
1st - December 1st) of 2019.
My understanding is that the town/city is responsible for the turning
on/off of the water supply to each address within its legal boundaries.

Please be advised that the primary function of the Toms River Municipal
Utilities Authority (TRMUA) is to collect wastewater generated by homes
and businesses located within the service area of the TRMUA and convey
that wastewater to the Ocean County Utilities Authority for treatment.
Furthermore, the TRMUA is not responsible for purveying water and
therefore does not maintain the information you requested. Alternatively,
the potable water systems are managed and operated by Suez Water
(mainland) and NJ American Water (barrier island). Please contact the
water companies for information.
The Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority will consider this matter
closed. You will need to contact the water companies.
