2024 Public Meeting Recordings
Dear New Jersey School Boards Association,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested: all existing recordings of public meetings held in 2024.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. However, I recognize that many recordings, especially video recordings, are too large to send via email. If that is the case, I can recommend: 1) uploading the recordings to a Google Drive folder and sharing it with my Google account: ckratovil, or 2) using the free service WeTransfer to send the recordings to my email address: [email address]
I am also open to other methods, including picking up a flash drive or CD/DVD at your office, or receiving the same via US mail at our PO Box: #3180, New Brunswick, NJ 08903. Please confirm you have received this request and feel free to contact me at 732-993-9697 with any questions or to make any necessary arrangements. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
Charlie Kratovil
Charlie Kratovil,

Dear Carl ,
Apologies if I was unclear. My request was seeking the recordings of the NJSBA's Board meetings for 2024. Do you have them?
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Charlie,
No need to apologize, we are happy to help. But since we are the school boards association, many of our meetings involve boards. You may want to review our website at https://www.NJSBA.org to clarify the type of meeting in which you are interested and I can then determine whether we have recordings of those meetings.
Hope this is helpful.

Dear Carl,
Thanks for your helpful message. At this time, I would like to request the recordings of the following 2024 meetings:
NJSBA Delegate Assembly
NJSBA Board of Directors
Middlesex County School Boards Association
Somerset County School Boards Association
Mercer County School Boards Association
NJSBA Urban Boards Committee
Please let me know which of the above have recordings. Thanks again for your help.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Charlie,
I will look into our records and get back to you. If we do have
recordings, there may be a duplicating fee. If so, I will let you know I
my response.

I will ask Karen if she has recordings for those counties. We do record them but do not keep them long. I do not have one for 2024 and UBC. I have one for 2025 because the speaker was virtual.
Dear Charlie,
It would appear that we only have recordings of the NJSBA Board of Directors meetings. They amount to 1.8 Gb. How would you like them delivered?

Dear Carl,
Thanks so much. The best/easiest way to deliver them would be to upload them to this Google Drive folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...
Alternatively, you could use another file transfer service such as WeTransfer.com. I'm also open to picking up a flash drive or disc from your office, or you can feel free to mail the same to our PO Box. Thanks again!
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Charlie,
As requested, the meeting recordings we have available have been loaded into your Google Drive folder. I trust these documents are fully responsive to your request.

Dear Carl,
Thanks for trying to upload the records. Unfortunately, the files uploaded were not the actual recordings, but rather they are "shortcuts" to the file locations on your computer. You can tell by the very small file sizes that they are not the actual recordings.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...
Please try again to upload the actual recordings to the folder. Thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Charlie,
We were able to download the meeting recordings, but I am unable to load them into your Google docs folder due to a lack of permission. Absent objection, I will load them onto a USB and forward via regular mail.
Carl
