2024 Public Meeting Recordings

Dear Somerset County,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested: all existing recordings of public meetings held in 2024.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. However, I recognize that many recordings, especially video recordings, are too large to send via email. If that is the case, I can recommend: 1) uploading the recordings to a Google Drive folder and sharing it with my Google account: ckratovil, or 2) using the free service WeTransfer to send the recordings to my email address: [email address].
I am also open to other methods, including picking up a flash drive or CD/DVD at your office, or receiving the same via US mail at our PO Box: #3180, New Brunswick, NJ 08903. Please confirm you have received this request and feel free to contact me at 732-993-9697 with any questions or to make any necessary arrangements. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

The meeting videos are not maintained by Somerset County, but by an
outside vendor, and only available on the website. If you would like
copies of the videos a special service charge will need to be established
as Somerset County will need to procure the videos from its vendor. If
you would like copies of the videos, please respond and we will obtain a
cost from the vendor.

Dear Ms. Mager,
Thanks for your prompt response. Though the link I received didn't work, I was able to find the page on your website that you were sending me to, and I see the video recordings of the County Commissioner meetings.
Do you have recordings of any other public meetings, such as Planning Board, Tax Board, Election Board, Park Commission, Library Commission, etc.? I'm curious which boards make video recordings, which make audio recordings, and perhaps some don't make any recordings at all. Any help you can provide with this request would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, have a nice day!

Do you have recordings of any other public meetings, such as Planning Board, Tax Board, Election Board, Park Commission, Library Commission, etc.? I was able to download the County Commissioner recordings, but I don't know what other boards may have made recordings of their meetings last year. Please provide all recordings that exist of public meetings held in 2024. Thank you.

I have been advised that the Tax Board, Election Board and Library Commission do not record their meetings. The Park Commission has 1 recording which can be provided and the Planning Board has audio recordings. However, the files are too large to send through email. If you would like to provide a flash drive or other means of transfer for these recordings they can be provided to you. Alternatively, I can add your request to the portal, which allows you to download the files at your leisure and is not restricted by file size.
In addition, OPRA allows the records custodian to seek extensions of time pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5i. The County anticipates requiring an additional two weeks (until February 14, 2025) to compile, review, and produce the potentially responsive records in accordance with New Jersey law. The County also reserves the right to request an additional extension of time, if necessary. See Scheeler v. New Jersey Department of Educ., GRC Complaint No. 2014-123 (2016).
