Dear Union Township Board of Education (Union),
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under NJSA 47:1A-10 and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
1) records sufficient to show the name, title/position, and total amount paid to each current or former employee on the payroll during the 2024-25 fiscal year. If possible, please include breakdowns by categories such as base pay, overtime pay, stipends, bonuses, etc.

This email is in response to your OPRA request seeking:
“Records sufficient to show the name, title/position, and total amount
paid to each current or former employee on the payroll during the
2024-25 fiscal year. If possible, please include breakdowns by
categories such as base pay, overtime pay, stipends, bonuses, etc.”
After a thorough search, including consultation with our payroll software
vendor, we have determined that no single report or record exists that
contains all of the information requested in the format described. While
some of the requested data may exist in separate records or systems, we do
not currently maintain a report that consolidates all of these data points
into one document.
Please note that under OPRA, public agencies are not required to create
new records or reports in response to a request, but rather to provide
access to records that already exist.

Per section 10 of the OPRA, you are required to disclose the payroll records of your employees. I am willing to work with you in terms of how that information is disclosed, but I do require a response that is sufficient to show the total amount paid to each district employee for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Can you provide this?
