Dear Mr. VanWoeart,,

Dear Carteret Borough,
I am following up on the response to my recent OPRA request. Can you please clarify: Were there any officers subject to major discipline in 2020?
Yours faithfully,
Charlie Kratovil
Mr. Kratovil,
Can you please clarify whom you sent the original OPRA to as the Borough Clerks office did not respond to this OPRA. the Carteret Police Department has their own OPRA Custodian, Capt. Jeff VanWoeart at [email address]. Under OPRA we are not required to answer questions but forward records. Can you please clarify.
Thank you!
Very Respectfully,
Jennifer K. Otero

Dear Clerk 's Office,
Yes, on June 15 Mr. Van Woeart sent a letter directing me to a website, and did not provide any records. When I go to the link he provided, it says "The maximum number of sessions that this server instance is licensed for has been reached," and thus no records are available to me. I asked Mr. Van Woeart if there were any cases of major discipline in 2020, and he has not responded to that question. Please provide the records that I requested, and clarify if there were any major discipline cases to report for the year 2020.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Mr. Kratovil,
As a courtesy, I am going to cc both Capt. Jeff Van Woeart and Capt Michael Dammann on this OPRA as the Borough does not have access to these records and this should have been accessed with the Carteret Police Departments OPRA custodian, whom you have been working with. Please direct any further inquiries regarding this OPRA to Capt. Michael Dammann at [email address] .
Thank you!
Dear Clerk's Office,
Thank you for the courtesy. I will await a response from Carteret PD, hopefully one that includes the records I requested. Thanks again.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Charlie Kratovil,
I was able to obtain The Carteret Police 2020 Quarterly and Annual Professional Standards Summary reports from the borough website right now. I have attached d them for you and also included our IT Director in this email to attempt to fix the issue you had with the boroughs web site. Per NJ Attorney General Law enforcement Directive 2021-6 our department must publish our first public report on Major Discipline from June 15,2020 to December 31,2020 by August 9,2021. I will forward you a copy when it's completed.
Respectfully,
Capt. Van Woeart
Dear Captain,
Can you please tell me if there are any major discipline cases from 2020?
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Captain,
Following up on this. Can you kindly send me CPD's Annual Major Discipline Reporting Forms for 2020?
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Charlie Kratovil,
Please see the attached report.
Respectfully,
Capt. Van Woeart
Dear Captain,
What about the period of time January 1-June 14? Did you have any major discipline cases during that time?
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
Dear Charlie Kratovil,
The Carteret Police Department is in compliance with the NJ Attorney Generals Directive 2021-6. You were previously supplied with the 2020 Annual Major Discipline Reporting Form.
Respectfully,
Capt. Van Woeart
Dear Captain,
I received an annual major discipline form for June 15-December 31. If there were major discipline cases in the January 1-June 14 period of last year, you are required to release a synopsis of those violations under the prior AG directive. That's why I am asking if there were any major discipline cases for the period of January 1-June 14. Please confirm, and if there were any, kindly provide the synopses for those violations.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Kratovil
