2017 fire report for 491 Broad St Carlstadt NJ "The Balcony"
Dear New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
I am interested in any and all correspondence with any and all agencies and or insurance companies regarding the July 2, 2017 four alarm fire of the Balcony Lounge located on 491 Broad St, Carlstadt NJ. According to numerous news reports quoting unnamed officials reporting the fire was "under investigation".
I am interested in any reports, interviews, field notes as to the property, the cause of the fire. I also am interested in any interviews or statements made by owner of the property, Paul Qassis.

Attention OPRA and Common Law Right of Access Requestor Mary Lisa:
The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety ("Division") is in receipt of your government records request seeking records concerning the July 2, 2017 four alarm fire of the Balcony Lounge located on 491 Broad St, Carlstadt NJ.
The Division reviewed your request and determined that it was not involved with the investigation of this fire incident. Accordingly, the Division has no responsive records.
Although not fully certain, the Division believes that this fire investigation was likely handled by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. In this regard the Division recommends that you contact that Office for prospective records.
Upon transmittal of this email to you the Division will deem your request closed.
